Stevenson Wraps Sophomore Season With Another Player of the Week Award

It was a fitting end in more than one way Wednesday as the Jayhawk Conference released its final KJCCC Player of the Week award winners for Men's Basketball.  For the final week of the regular season, Seward County's Niem Stevenson and Hutchinson's Bashier Ahmed, two high level athletes that went at it all year long, share the award, Stevenson's seventh time to collect the honors this season and tenth time in his career which sets a school record.
Niem Stevenson wrapped up his illustrious Seward County career in style this week, averaging 29 points and 9.5 rebounds in a pair of Saints contests.  Monday against Colby, Stevenson scored 24 points and had 9 rebounds in a close loss to the Trojans.  Thursday in the first round of the 2016 Region VI Tournament he put on a show, scoring 34 points on 10 of 18 shooting while hauling down a team high 10 rebounds for Seward in his seventh double-double of the season.  Stevenson finishes his career at Seward County 4th all-time in scoring with 1,384 points.
Stevenson's playing future is still in the air with a number of high major programs beating down the Saints star door for the next two seasons.  Stevenson is expected to make a decision in the near future on that decision.
