Saints Esports Weekly Recap

Results from Tuesday 11-12-24

Due to a water main break, the Esports Lab was closed on Tuesday. Students had the option of a floating bye week or playing from home.

The Fortnite Green team (Henry Perez, Osiel Ventura) faced off against Jacksonville College. They easily swept their opponent 2- 0. Their record improves to 6 - 1

 

Results from Wednesday 11-13-24

Overwatch 2:

The Saints OW team (Julienne Salazar, Christina Nguyen, Ernest Paloma, Scarlett Phan, and Jackson Dodge) went against fellow Jayhawk Leaguers, the Pratt CC Beavers, in a best of 5 match up. Unfortunately, connectivity issues plagued the Saints and halted their momentum. They eventually fell to Pratt 1 - 3. Their record is 2 - 5.

Madden NFL:

Jarrett Hogg squared up against Pensacola State College in a back and forth set. Hogg won the first, but lost the second. He fought back in the third game in a very tight set to win on the night 2 - 1. His record is 2 - 5.

Dwayne Moran fought off Southeast Community College. Moran won a close first game, but the SECC player took the second match. Moran came back in dynamic fashion to win the third. He took the set 2 - 1. His record is 5 - 2.

Akele Powdrill had a rough set against Western Technical College. His game was marred by technical issues and Powdrill fell on the night 0 - 2. His record stands at 6 - 2.

Landon Davis played against Trinidad State Community College in another set where the two traded wins. Davis eventually fell on the night 1 - 2. His record is 3 - 2 on the season.

Ricky Olguin had an easier time against Eastern Georgia State College, winning his set handily 2 - 0. His record is 2 - 5.

 

Results from Thursday 11-14-24

Mario Kart:

Priscilla Davis raced against Luzerne County Community College, easily sweeping her opponent 4 - 0. Davis' record on the season stands at 7 - 0!

Landon Davis' game went the full distance, all 7 sets. He traded back and forth with the player from Marshalltown but in the end, couldn't pull off the checkered flag. He fell on the night 3 - 4. His record is 4 - 2.

Edward Rios had a rough time against Lorain County Community College, winning only one race on the evening. He fell 1 - 4. His record is 5 - 2

Bret Lyon didn't fare much better against Northwestern College, winning the one race. She lost 1 - 4, bringing her record to 0 - 6

Alyzabeth Taylor also had a hard time against State Fair College, dropping 4 in a row. Their record is 0 - 7.

Alexis Saustegui took off on Western Technical College, only dropping one race on the evening. He won 4 - 1. His record stands at an incredible 7 - 0 as well.

Valorant:

The Valorant Green team (Julienne Salazar, Marcos Montoya, Daniel Nguyen, Ernest Paloma, and Christina Nguyen) had an epic battle against Rose State College. Both sets came down to the wire, with the second set going into overtime. The Saints pulled off the victory and handed RSC their first loss of the season, winning 2 - 0. Their record is 5 - 2.

The Valorant Black team (Henry Perez, Angel Avalos, Izrel Velasquez, Josef Peppa, and Eli Hackett) were up against North Central Michigan College. Early game went well, before the NCMC crew took off and put the Saints down. Black team lost on the night 0 - 2. Their record is 1 - 1

 

Friday Night 11-15-24

Rocket League:

The Saints Rocket League team (Fabian Tarango, Brian Amador, and Asher Waite) took on SUNY Jamestown. The JCC crew won the first set but the Saints came back in the second. After that, it was all SUNY. The Saints lost 1 – 3, their current record is 1 – 5.

Rainbow 6:

The Saints R6 Black team (Edward Rios, Izrel Velasquez, Ernest Paloma, Christian Abel, and Scarlett Phan) faced off against Arkansas State University Three Rivers. The Saints came in hot and heavy, sweeping the Eagles 2 – 0. Their record is 2 – 3.

The Saints R6 Green team (Jarret Hogg, Dwayne Moran, Nicolas Benson, Ernest Paloma and Marcos Montoya) once again faced off against their frenemies from Hocking College. The Saints had a hard time getting passed the defense of the HC crew and fell on the night 0 – 2. Their record is 2 - 5
