Freshman (2016): Anez had just about as good of a freshman season as Coach Greg Owen could have asked for in 2016, capturing both singles and doubles championships at the Region VI Tournament while finishing ranked #14 individually and #23 in doubles in the country. Anez won 16 matches at #1 singles for the Saints in 2016, ranking second on the team in singles victories on the year. In doubles he bounced back and forth between #1 and #2, playing primarily with Ondrej Nice to capture 19 total wins in doubles action to lead the team. After slipping in the first round at the NJCAA National Tournament in singles play, Anez bounced back to win four straight matches, claiming the consolation bracket title at the tourey. Anez's signature moment of the 2016 season came in the Southwest Juco Championships in Plano where he took down the #1 ranked player in the country, Ferran Calvo in a third set tiebreak.
