LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College has announced that is has hired Larissa Lujan as the Head Cheer Coach for the Seward County Saints Cheerleading program. Lujan, who has been the head cheer coach at Liberal High School for the last two years, will join the Saints immediately.

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College cheer program is excited to announce sophomore Anahi Navarrete has signed with Kansas Wesleyan University to continue her academic and cheer career. Navarrete has been a member of the Saints cheer program for the last three years and the team captain for the past two seasons.

This will be the second time that Seward County has competed at the Regional competition and first time competing in the all-girl competition.

Seward County cheerleader Adriana Colbert signed with William Penn on Tuesday in the All-American Room to continue her cheerleading career with the Statesmen. She becomes the first cheerleader to sign on to a four-year school under new Head Coach Chad Butler.

The Seward County Athletic Department has announced the hiring of three coaches to the coaching staff.  Lachmond Bratton will be joining the tennis program as Assistant Coach, Chad Butler will be leading the SCCC Spirit Squad as Head Coach, and Parker Thompson will become the new assistant coach for volleyball.

With the recent developments in Houston, Texas and surrounding areas, the Seward County Athletic department will be hosting multiple hurricane relief events. The devastation has struck many current and former Saints and Lady Saints, therefore all monetary, non-perishable food, or other donations will be sent directly to former Seward students and their families. With help from the SCCC Booster Club, there will be an account set up for all funds to be collected and distributed.

The academic recognition continues for Seward County athletic teams, as the 2016-17 KJCCC academic report was released Monday (Aug. 7) with three SCCC teams earning the top cumulative GPA in their respective sports. Men and women’s tennis, along with women’s basketball, all earned the highest GPA in their sports.
