Bio

Assistant Coach Cayde Ward, a Justin, TX native is entering his second season on staff for the Saints for the 2023-2024 season.

During Coach Ward's first season on staff the Saints made it to Wichtia State University for the Plains District/Region VI tournament finishing their season with a 33-26 overall record while going 20-12 in the KJCCC. Coach Ward was a big part of this success with his work on the offensive side of the game. The Saints finished Top-5 in the country for hits (704), doubles (146), average (.360) and Top-15 in at-bats (1958), runs (569), runs batted in (514), home runs (88) and slugging percentage (.589).

Cayde is also no stranger to Liberal, KS as he has multiple stints in this area, both as a Saint and as a Liberal Bee Jay. Cayde spent the first two years of his collegiate career as the firstbasemen for Seward County. Cayde played in 52 games his freshman season (17-18) and hit 11 hoeruns while rackin up 52 RBIs with the help of 25 doubles (#2 All-Time Single Season Record). Cayde hit for an average of .427 with an on base percentage of .480 while the Saints finished at 30-30 under long time head coach and athletic director Galen McSpadden.

In his second season for the Saints Cayde hit with an average of .333 with 9 homeruns, 10 doubles and 51 runs batted in as they finished at 26-27 on the year under now head coach Mike Davidson in his first year at the helm. Cayde finished his Saints career as a two-time First Team All-Conference selection and a two-time selection of the All-Region VI team with a second team selection his freshman season and a first team selection his sophomore season. Cayde was selected as KJCCC Freshman of the Year following the 2017-2018 season.

Following his sophomore year, Cayde stayed in Liberal and played for the Liberal Bee Jays, a collegiate summer league team now in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. During that Summer of 2019 Cayde played in 35 games while batting .374 with 7 homeruns and 32 RBIs. During the following two summers Cayde continued to play for the Liberal Bee Jays helping them to 2 NBC World Series appearances while hitting for an average of .538 in 5 world series games. Cayde was named an NBC All-American and the NBC Hitter of the tournament in 2020. Cayde was named the 2021 Liberal Bee Jays team MVP.

After Seward County, Cayde's athletic career transitioned to Lubbock Christian where Cayde saw action in three seasons from 2020-2022. During his first Junior campaign for the Chaps Cayde made his debut on 3/6 vs. UT Tyler and he played in four more games before the season was cut short due to Covid-19 on 3/13. During the following season (2020-21) Cayde made appearances as a DH or firstbaseman in 15 games before injury recording two homeruns wiht an on base percentage of .313. The next season (2021-22) was Cayde's best where he saw action in 28 games and hit for an average of .316 with 11 RBIs and 4 pinch hit homeruns.

Cayde is a graduate of Lubbock Christian University with a Bachelors degree in Finance and plans to obtain his Masters degree in Sports Management.
