Seward County falls 11-3 at Frank Phillips

BORGER, Tex. - Seward County Community College went to Frank Phillips College and lost 11-3 in one nine-inning game. The Saints scored two runs to start the game but the Plainsmen scored five runs in the bottom of the first to take control of the game. Seward County falls to 17-16 on the season and will be back in conference play on Friday to face Cowley College. 

To start the game KP Werner was able to get on base and scored from third base on a wild pitch. A couple of batters later Wyatt Grant reached on an RBI single to score Kase Johnson and the Saints took a 2-0 lead. The Plainsmen followed up in the bottom of the first inning with five runs that included a three-run home run and two runs scored off of field errors. 

In the top of the third inning, the Saints were able to add one more run off of an RBI double from Jonathan Cantu to score AJ Folds from second base. Seward County went into the fourth inning down 5-3 to Frank Phillips. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Frank Phillips scored three runs with a three-run home run. The Plainsmen led 8-3 and added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth with four base hits that scored three more runs and led the Saints 11-3 after the fifth. 

Steven Craddock took the loss from the mound in his start with four innings pitched, three earned runs on nine hits, and had four strikeouts. 

Seward County will be back in action at Cowley College this weekend for a three game series that starts on Friday, April 16th at 3 pm.
