Saints win 13-4 over Frank Phillips

LIBERAL, Kan. - The Seward County Community College baseball team handles business at Brent Gould Field with a 13-4 win over Frank Phillips College. The Saints had 17 hits in the nine-inning game that included a grand slam from Gannon Hardin in the bottom of the eighth inning. Peter Goldy receives the win from the mound with six innings pitched with six runs and six hits. 

Seward County started the game with two-run in the bottom of the first inning after a single from Wyatt Grant scored Kase Johnson from third. Grant was able to score later in the first off of an error by the infield. In the top of the second inning, Frank Phillips responded with a three-run in the top of the second to take a 3-2 lead over Seward.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Saints George Gallardo was able to tie the game with a base hit that scored Grant from third. The next batter Max Garrett followed suit with a base hit to score Braden Boisvert from third base and the Saints took a 4-3 lead. 

Seward County gave up one run in the top of the fourth to Frank Phillips but the Saints quickly responded. Kase Johnson was able to get the Saints back in front by getting home off an error and the lead was 5-4. Seward County continued their hot hitting into the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back singles by Josh Eichstadt and Landon Anderson. Both would later come around and score to give Seward a 7-4 lead. Reed Thomas cleared the bases with a double to left field that scored two more runs as Johnson and Grant came around to score.

The next time either team scored was in the bottom of the eighth on Gannon Hardin's grand slam to give the Saints the 13-4 lead that sealed the deal at Brent Gould Field. 

The Saints have now won four in a row and will look to continue their winning ways at Dodge City Community college Thursday, April 1st at 3 pm.
