Saints fall in final day in Weatherford

WEATHERFORD, Tex. - Seward County Community College baseball program falls on Saturday (February 6th, 2021) in Weatherford, Texas with a 14-3 loss to Weatherford College and fell 18-1 to No. 14 Navarro College. Seward County goes 0-4 on their opening weekend and will look to get their first win of the season with four games at Odessa College starting on Friday (February 12th, 2021).

To start off Saturday's doubleheader the Saints faced the home team Coyotes and Seward started Dylan Lopez on the mound. Lopez went four and two-thirds inning, allowed three runs, four hits, and stuck out one. At the end of the fifth inning, the Saints trailed 3-2 after the fifth inning but Weatherford rallied to score 11 runs in the final three innings.

Saints tallied one more run in the top of the eighth with Samuel Miller's double that scored Brody Boisvert from second base. Eric Turner received the loss in two and a third innings gave up eight runs on seven hits. Kody Bigford had two hits on three appearances and one RBI to lead the Saints' offense.

In the second game of the day, Seward County faced the No. 14 Bulldogs. Peter Goldy received the start and pitched for three innings and gave up five runs on five hits and received the loss in the game. Saints' offense was unable to get things going against the Bulldogs pitching, with just one run in the game on seven hits. KP Werner went four for four at the plate and had one RBI for the Saints. Navarro added eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to claim the 18-1 victory.
