Williams, Connolly, & Olson Named All-Region VI

Three Seward County freshmen were honored by the NJCAA on Tuesday as Brent Williams, Kevin Connolly, and JB Olson were all named to the All-Region VI Team.

Williams was named 1st Team All-Region VI as a catcher after putting together one of the more spectacular rookie years in recent memory.  The freshman from Colorado Springs, Colorado led the Saints in a number of offensive categories including batting average (.415), hits (95), runs (61), doubles (37), home runs (7), and RBI's (69).  His 37 doubles on the year far and away led the nation and also broke a 25 year old NJCAA Division I record for doubles in a season which was previously set at 35 by Chris Benhardt of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M during the 1989 season.  His 95 hits were tied for 2nd in the nation this year and his 69 RBI's ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Connolly was named 1st Team All-Region VI in the outfield following  his redshirt freshman season in which he finished second to Williams in nearly every major offensive category.  Connolly hit .411 with 18 doubles, 3 home runs, and 52 RBI's while leading the team with 9 triples and 11 stolen bases on the year.  His .411 average was 4th best among Region VI sluggers while his 9 triples were 2nd and his 90 hits were 3rd best in the conference and 6th best nationally.

Olson was a 2nd Team All-Region VI selection after anchoring the Saints staff in 2014.  He led all Seward pitchers in wins (7), innings pitched (84 2/3), strikeouts (78), ERA (2.02), and complete games (5) during his freshman season.  Olson's 2.02 ERA was 2nd best among all Region VI pitchers in 2014 while his 84 2/3 innings pitched ranked 5th and his 78 strikeouts were 4th most among Kansas hurlers.

Williams and Olson will return to Seward County for their sophomore seasons next year while Connolly will continue his playing career at Creighton University.
