GAMEDAY in the GREENHOUSE: Seward County vs. Cloud County Volleyball

MATCH PREVIEW:

Two of the top teams in the Jayhawk West tangle tonight in the Greenhouse as the 3rd place Cloud County Thunderbirds come to town to take on the 2nd place Seward County Lady Saints.  Seward took both matches last year between the two teams, winning 3-0 in Concordia and 3-1 here in Liberal to extend a long winning streak for the Lady Saints in the series.

Seward enters tonight playing arguably their best volleyball of the season after a five win week that included victories over Jayhawk West rival Pratt and formerly 13th ranked Western Wyoming.  The Lady Saints are now 10-7 overall and are positioned well in the Jayhawk West standings at 4-1.  Sophomore Megan Sharratt rose to the occasion for Seward during their busy schedule last week, earning Jayhawk West Co-Player of the Week Honors while averaging 2.78 kills and 1.17 blocks per set for the Lady Saints.

Cloud County enters tonight hot as well, having won four of their past five matches to improve to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in Jayhawk West play on the season.  Much of the reason that the T-Birds have flown to new heights this season is their block.  Cloud currently ranks 3rd in the NJCAA with 257 total blocks on the season and has had 15 or more blocks in nearly 50% of their matches.  Offensivley the T-Birds are led by McKenna White, Gaby da Silva, and Laura Sudbeck who each rank inside the top 10 in kills on the conference leaderboard.
