GAMEDAY in the GREENHOUSE: Seward County vs. Garden City Volleyball

MATCH PREVIEW:

The Lady Saints continue a three game homestand tonight in the Greenhouse as they host the Garden City Broncbusters in another Jayhawk West Conference rivalry battle.  Seward has owned Garden over the past 10 seasons, winning 19 in a row against the Busters with Garden City's last win in the series coming all the way back during the 2005 season.

Seward enters tonight in 3rd place in the Jayhawk West standings at 2-1 after a 3-0 sweep of Dodge City Thursday night here in the Greenhouse.  In the win the Lady Saints hit a season high .316 and also had a season high 14 aces.  Alex Wood led Seward with a 12 kill, 12 dig double-double her fifth of the 2015 season.  Seward's serving continues to be one of their strengths as the Lady Saints rank 3rd in the West with 1.76 aces per set on the season.  On the flip side, the Lady Saints blocking has been a major issue in their first 11 matches as Seward ranks 8th out of 9 teams with just 1.29 blocks per set.

It has been a rough start to 2015 for the Busters as they have just 1 win in 16 tries this season.  Garden has played one of the tougher schedules in the Jayhawk Conference this season, going up against five different teams ranked in the NJCAA Top 20.  The Busters earned their only win thus far last Wednesday against Dodge City, knocking off the Conqs in a thrilling 3-2 final in the Perryman Center.  The Buster offense has been at the forefront of their struggles as Garden ranks dead last in the Jayhawk West averaging just 7.40 kills per set as a team.
