Above the Net With... Lindsey Schwab

Our 2015 'Above the Net' feature series, focusing on the Seward County Lady Saints Volleyball team will begin with Lindsey Schwab.  Schwab is a sophomore middle hitter from Canon City, Colorado and has entitled her entry "Let's Get This Party Started".

Hello Lady Saint fans my name is Lindsey Schwab. This is my second year as a Lady Saint and I am ready to kick off my sophomore season. As everyone has heard we have a new Head Coach this year, Coach B.  She is doing a great job and pushes us to be our best every day. This year we only have three sophomores returning to go along with seven freshman. It was a lot different to now be a sophomore and see new young faces this year while pretty much building an entire new team dynamic. We have two girls from Brazil, one girl from the Dominican Republic, and one from Puerto Rico. Working on communication has been big for us with all the different languages, but they have been doing really well and everything has worked out pretty good so far.   We just finished our preseason which was about two weeks long. We got to do team bonding activities and most importantly practice. Saturday we had our first scrimmage at OPSU in Goodwell, Oklahoma and we went 3-0 there. It was a good start for us. With only having ten players we clicked and played well together. We learned what we still have to improve on and how we have to play to keep the energy going in the right direction. This Friday kicks off the start to our regular season. We will head to Roswell, New Mexico for a tournament over the weekend. I am super excited to start. It will be great competition and we will get to see some teams we have never seen before.

As for me personally, I have one older sister and one older brother. I also have three nephews and one niece.  I miss seeing my family and all my friends, but Liberal helps make it easy by feeling like its home. Everyone is so nice here and is always willing to help out. I am excited to be back with my former teammates and best friends #14 Alex Wood and #12 Megan Sharratt. All of our booster families take really good care of us and I know we couldn't thank them enough. Seward is a great school to attend and I couldn't be happier with coming here.

I hope to see everyone at our games this year in the Greenhouse. We have our last scrimmage of the year Wednesday at home against OPSU at 6:30 and our first home game September 10th against Dodge City, so let's pack the stands and cheer loud for your Lady Saints.

Until next time, Go Lady Saints!
