Strong Singles Play Sends Seward to Win
The #5 Seward County Lady Saints had little problem in breezing past Texas Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in Midlothian, Texas, winning all 12 singles sets to blank the Rams 9-0 to improve to 6-2 on the year.
Doubles action was tight early on as Thalita Rodrigues and Lisa Suzuki grinded to an 8-6 win at #1 and Tadi Mrewa and Madison Hoelting took an 8-5 decision at #3 to put Seward up 2-0. The match at #2 was the least contested as Steffeny Bermudez and Sarah Manseri coasted to an 8-3 win to take a 3-0 lead to singles play. Seward dominated singles action, losing just 15 of the 87 games played, winning all six spots in straight sets to finish off the 9-0 victory.
Seward improves to 6-2 on the year with the win while Texas Wesleyan falls to 4-3.
The Lady Saints will be back in action next weekend when they make the long drive to Pensacola, Florida to take on the likes of #1 State College of Florida, #3 ASA Miami, and #7 Eastern Florida in the five match weekend.
