#4 Lady Saints Down #10 Broncs in First Round

The #4 Seward County Lady Saints picked up another top 10 win on Friday in the opening round of the 2016 Seminole State Dual Match Classic, downing #10 New Mexico Military 6-3 to improve to 17-1 on the year.

Things actually didn't get off to a real promising start for the Lady Saints on Friday as they lost both doubles matches played 8-5, but were handed a default win at #3 to head into singles play down just 2-1.

The Lady Saints changed their fortunes as they took the courts solo though, getting a 6-2, 6-2 win at #1 from Mialinianina Rakotondrazafy and a 6-2, 6-3 win at #2 from Thalita Rodrigues over 16th ranked Lorraine Banimakatu to take the lead in the match 3-2.  They kept on their winning ways down the lineup as Maminianina Rakotondrazafy and Crizta Goslin earned straight set wins at #3 and #5 while another default point at #6 clinched the match for Seward as they grabbed a 6-2 lead.  The Broncos won their only singles point at #4 in a three setter to make the final score 6-3 in favor of the Lady Saints.

Seward improves to 17-1 on the year with the win and advances to the Seminole State Dual Match Classic semifinals where they will take on #3 Seminole State Saturday morning at 9:00 with a trip to the championship match on the line.
