Lady Saints Tame Tigers in 8-1 Win

The 4th ranked Seward County Lady Saints continued a busy stretch of matches on Wednesday, making the long trip to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Ouachita Baptist.  Coming off of their first loss of the 2016 season, Seward rebounded well, knocking off the Tigers 8-1 to improve to 16-1 on the year.

Seward got off to a good start in doubles action as the tag teams of Nthabi Mogopodi and Thalita Rodrigues at #2 and Tadi Mrewa and Madison Hoelting at #3 remained unbeaten on the year with 8-1 and 8-3 wins.  Ouachita picked up their only point of the dual at #1 doubles where Seward's Rakotondrazafy combo was just edged 9-8 (6) to make it 2-1 Lady Saints heading to singles.

Singles play was dominated by Seward.  Mialiniaina Rakotondrazafy won a 9-8 (3) decision at #1 while sister Maminiaina Rakotondrazafy battled through a tough 7-5 first set to cruise in the second 6-0 at #3 to stretch the Lady Saints lead to 4-1.  Rodrigues had no problem with Mallory Tabler at #2, winning 6-0, 6-1 to clinch the match while Mogopodi, Yennifer Delgado, and Mrewa all won in straight sets at #4, #5, and #6 to complete the singles sweep for Seward and give them the 8-1 win.

The Lady Saints improve to 16-1 on the year with the victory and will now turn their focus to the Seminole State Dual Match Classic where they open play on Friday in Oklahoma City with #10 New Mexico Military.
