Lady Saints Breeze Past Hesston

Lady Saints Breeze Past Hesston

Things couldn't have went a whole lot better for the #16 Seward County Lady Saints on Saturday afternoon in Hesston, Kansas as they had no trouble with the Hesston Larks in a 7-2 romp to improve to 4-2 overall on the year.

Seward swept all three doubles spots to grab an early 3-0 lead in the match.  In #1 doubles the 5th ranked duo in the country, Seward's Paula Lopez and Paula Coyos downed Samantha Aeschliman and Savannah Mitchell to give the Lady Saints their first point of the day. In #2 doubles it was Kathryn Roohan and Jackie Arnold earning another tally for the gals in green, downing Brett Faire and Ashley Kopf 8-5 to put Seward up 2-0.  Naomie Bukassa and Grace Golden completed the doubles sweep for the Lady Saints, beating Elizabeth Wilder and Natalie Martin 8-2 in a quick match.

The Lady Saints had about the same luck in singles where Lopez and Coyos both cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins over Aeschliman and Faire in #1 and #2 play to assure Seward of a win in the duel.  In #3 singles it was Roohan picking up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Wilder to give the Lady Saints a 6-0 lead.  Hesston earned wins at #4 and #5 singles play while Golden downed Wise 6-2, 6-1 in 6 singles to finish off a 7-2 win for the Lady Saints.

Seward moves to 4-2 on the year with the win and are now 2-0 in Region VI action this season.

The Lady Saints will return to the court again Thursday, Friday, & Saturday when they participate in the Seminole State Invitational where they will meet up with #18 Seminole State, #7 North Central Texas, #25 Jacksonville, #8 Collin County, and #1 Tyler in a stiff weekend of competition.
