Kristyna Garcia Named Jayhawk Player of the Week

Swinging a powerful bat in five Seward County games this weekend, Lady Saints sophomore Kristyna Garcia has been named the Jayhawk West Player of the Week as announced in a league release Tuesday morning. 

Garcia crushed a pair of grand slams and finished the week with 12 RBI's in five Seward County games this week.  The sophomore third baseman hit .421 and slugged .947 with a double and three home runs.  Saturday against El Paso she was 2 for 3 with her first grand slam of the week.  Later in the day she banged her second slam in a 7-0 win over Vernon.  On Sunday she went to the long ball again, crushing a three run shot against Odessa to give her three on the week.   

Garcia and the Lady Saints had their home opener pushed back from Tuesday to Wednesday where they will open their home slate against Friends University's JV squad in a 2:00 doubleheader in Liberal.
