No.3 Saints down No.8 ABAC to finish Pensacola Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The third-ranked Seward County Community College men's tennis team defeated No. 8 Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, 8-1, on Monday. The Saints improved to 5-4 and finished the Pensacola Invitational at 3-1.

In singles action, No. 1 Nick Rousset beat Cristobal Quevedo Brea, 6-4 6-0, No. 3 Sander Jans defeated Juan Pino Contoleon, 6-3, 6-0, No. 4 Edgar Fougerit rallied to knock off Gabriel Chaves De Sa, 2-6, 6-2, 10-3 and No. 5 Franck Soulerot cruised past Phuong Pham, 6-0, 6-0.

The lone loss came when No. 2 Hugo Lobo lost to Lukas Zavrel after winning the first set, but then dropping the next two, 6-1, 3-6, 9-11.

In doubles, Lobo and Rousset downed Zavrel and Pino Contoleon, 8-5 and Fougerit and Jans downed Quevedo Brea and Chaves De Sa 8-2. Seward also won a singles and doubles match through a default.

The Saints will host Bethany at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
