Saints Slam 9th Ranked Owls
The #5 Seward County Saints wrapped up their Spring Break trip to Pensacola, Florida in style Sunday afternoon, blasting #9 Harford 9-0 for their 11th win of the season.
The Saints set the tone early on, jumping all over the Owls in doubles action. Duro Opacic and Przemek Zielinski slid up to the #1 line for an 8-2 win while Claudio Quinones and Gabriel Nery did the same at #2 to give Seward a 2-0 lead. At #3 doubles it was Ngoni Makambwa and Renato Santos teaming for Seward, taking an 8-1 decision to put the Saints ahead 3-0 to singles.
The Fighting Owls were no match for Seward again in singles play as Opacic defeated #50 Thomas Parra 6-0, 6-0 at #1 and Zielinski earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over 34th ranked Xavier Gralles at #2 to seal the win for the Saints. Quinones moved up to the #3 spot for a 6-2, 6-4 win while Alex Mosehle cruised past Fidno Carrento 6-0, 6-2 to put Seward on top 7-0. Makambwa and Santos finished off the sweep for the Saints as the two lost just a single game between them as they dominated to give Seward a 9-0 victory.
The Saints improve to 11-2 on the year with the win and finish their trip to the Sunshine State 3-1.
Next up for Seward is a showdown with rival Cowley on the road Saturday in Arkansas City.
