#5 Seward Drops DII #25 St. Eds

The #5 Seward County Saints bounced back from their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon in Midlothian, Texas, knocking off another ranked NCAA Division II foe in #25 St. Edwards by a count of 6-3 to improve to 8-1 on the year.

Doubles play was competitive with Seward earning 8-6 victories at #1 and #3 and the Hilltoppers taking an 8-4 decision at #2 to give the Saints a 2-1 lead into singles play.  St. Edwards won three setters at each of the top two singles spots to go in front, but the Saints controlled play from there.  Ondrej Nice and Przemek Zielinski earned straight set wins at #3 and #4 and Gabriel Nery and Ngoni Makambwa followed suit at the bottom two rungs on the ladder to finish off a 6-3 Seward win.

The Saints improve to 8-1 on the year with the wins while St. Edwards falls to 7-4.

Seward will be back in action next weekend in Pensacola, Florida where they will see four ranked NJCAA squads including perennial power ASA Miami and up and coming Eastern Florida State.
