Saints Split Pair of Lopsided Contests

The #5 Seward County Saints split a pair of lopsided decisions in Midlothian, Texas on Friday, hammering #13 Jacksonville 8-1 before taking their first loss of the season 9-0 against top ranked Tyler to wrap up the day.

In their first match against Jacksonville, Seward dominated, taking all three doubles points, winning a close 8-6 match at #1 and then 8-0 wins at #2 and #3 to take a 3-0 lead to singles.  Seward quickly sealed up the win as they cruised at the three bottom spots in singles play to go ahead 6-0.  The matches at #2 and #3 were close, but again Seward survived while Jacksonville picked up their only point of the match at #1 in a three set victory to make it 8-1.

#5 SEWARD COUNTY/#13 JACKSONVILLE BOX SCORE

In their second match of the day, the Saints met their match as #1 Tyler crushed the guys in green 9-0 with Seward winning just a single set in the contest.  The Saints top ranked doubles team was no match for the Apaches in an 8-0 final while Seward battled to no avail at the other two pairs spots, falling 9-7 and 8-6 to give Tyler the doubles sweep.  Singles wasn't any prettier for the Saints as their only set victory came at #4 where Przemek Zielinski dropped a three setter to 27th ranked Reid Feehan in a 9-0 Seward defeat.

#5 SEWARD COUNTY/#1 TYLER BOX SCORE

The Saints drop to 7-1 on the year with the split as they lose more points in their match against Tyler as they lost in their first seven matches of the year combined.

Seward continues their trip to the Lone Star State Saturday as they battle two more ranked foes in Collin and St. Edwards to wrap up the weekend.
