#4 Seward Earns Three Wins in Dallas

The 4th ranked Seward County Saints ran their 2016 record to 4-0 Friday afternoon in Dallas, earning a trio of wins over four year schools including a heart racing 5-4 win over Oklahoma Baptist and blowout wins over Southwestern College and the University of the Southwest. 

 

In their first match of the day, the Saints took on Oklahoma Baptist, splitting points at #1 and #2 doubles with 8-5 scores before Seward grabbed a 2-1 lead with an 8-2 victory by Ngoni Makambwa and Alex Mosehle at #3.  The Bison won the two bottom spots of singles play to retake the lead before Carlos Anez outlasted Daniel Aguilera at #1 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 to even things up.  Oklahoma Baptist earned the point at #2 before Ondrej Nice claimed victory for the Saints at #4 to make the point at #3 winner take all action.  It was Mosehle for Seward and Thomas Ackerknecdt for Oklahoma Baptist with Mosehle coming from behind for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 win to clinch the match for the Saints 5-4. 

 

#4 SEWARD COUNTY/OKLAHOMA BAPTIST MATCH RESULTS

 

The Saints would have considerably less drama in their second match of the day as they took on Southwestern College.  Seward had very little trouble in doubles play as they marched to 8-0 wins at both #1 and #2 and an 8-2 victory at #3 doubles to grab an early 3-0 lead. There wasn't much more resistance from the Moundbuilders in singles action as no Southwestern players got closer than 8-2 from the Saints singles players as Seward blew through singles play undefeated to shutout Southwestern 9-0. 

 

#4 SEWARD COUNTY/SOUTHWESTERN MATCH RESULTS

 

In their third and final match of the day, the Saints took on another four year school in the University of the Southwest.  Nice and Anez cruised to an 8-2 win at #1 doubles while Zielinski and Mosehle blanked their opponents 8-0 at #2.  Seward picked up another point at #3 to send them to singles action in front 3-0.  The Saints continued to roll in singles play and won five more points in straight sets.  The Mustangs only win of the match came in a three setter in #2 singles as Seward earned their third win of the day with an 8-1 victory. 

 

#4 SEWARD COUNTY/UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST MATCH RESULTS

 

The three victories push the Saints to 4-0 on the young season.  The Saints return to action on Saturday in Dallas when they take on Texas A&M Texarkana and Jacksonville College to wrap up the weekend.
