Molly Lentini Named Assistant Coach for Saints Tennis

The top 20 ranked Seward County Saints and Lady Saints Tennis teams got even stronger this week and it wasn't with the addition of a player, it was with the addition of a coach.  Monday, Seward County Tennis Head Coach Jerry Thor officially introduced Molly Lentini as his new Assistant Coach for both the men's and women's teams.

Lentini comes to Liberal with a strong playing background in tow.  She played at both the NJCAA and NCAA levels in college, making stops at Florida State College at Jacksonville as well as the University of Mount Olive.  Lentini grew up in South Florida where she attended high school at The Kings Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.  While at TKA, Lentini won her team's MVP award and was ranked in the top 40 in Florida and in the top 300 nationally.  Following her graduation she signed to play at Florida State College at Jacksonville where she was a two year starter and was the team captain as a sophomore.  During her sophomore season she finished 3rd  at the NJCAA National Tournament in singles and also 3rd in doubles action.  Lentini then moved on to the University of Mount Olive, an NCAA Division II school in North Carolina.  While at Mount Olive, Lentini was again a team captain and helped the Trojans break a school record for wins in a season during her junior season.  As a senior she was part of the Trojans 7th ranked doubles team in the Southeast region and was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection.

Along with her duties as an Assistant Tennis Coach, Lentini will also have responsibilities with Seward County's Sports Medicine program as well as in the Student Living Center.

Seward County Head Coach Jerry Thor on Lentini's hiring "we are very excited to announce Molly's addition to the program.  She not only will help our players on the court with her vast knowledge of the game, but she will also be a key asset for us in recruiting with her great personality.  I am really looking forward to working with her and seeing where we, along with our players, can take this program."
