Preview: Saints Travel To Dodge City for 100th Game in Series

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Seward County men's basketball team will look to get back on the winning side of the ledger on Wednesday night (Jan. 10) when the Saints travel to Dodge City to take on the Conquistadors in Jayhawk conference action at 7:30 p.m. inside the Student Activities Building.

Seward County (10-5, 6-5) is coming off tough 68-62 loss to Colby that saw the Saints nearly complete a half-time comeback.  However, a 10-0 run late in the game by Colby gave the Trojans the separation needed to put the game away.  Isiah Small came away with his fifth double-double in seven games, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Terrell Alfred joined Small in double-figures with 11 points.

The Seward County bench has played a vital role this season, scoring on average 30.1 points per game, nearly half of the overall points per game for Seward (74.5). Hegel Augustin has had a significant impact from the bench, scoring 6.5 points per game, making the second most 3's on the team (19).

Dodge City (5-10, 3-7) is coming off a 91-79 home loss to Independence and have lost eight straight overall. Three Conqs scored in double-figures, the Dodge City defense allowed Independence to shoot 50.8 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from deep.

The Conqs are led by sophomore Tajae Anderson, who is averaging 12.2 points/game, 3.9 rebounds/game and 2.6 assists/game.  Fellow guards Justice Dixon (9.9 points/game) and Bruce Hodges (9.7 points/game) average just under double-digit points.

This will be the 100th meeting between Dodge City and Seward County, and the series has been about as even as it can get, with the Conqs holding a one game advantage in the series, 50-49. Dodge City heads into the game with a four-game win streak in the series.  The Saints last win was on Feb. 14, 2015 when they defeated the Conqs 70-68 in the Greenhouse.

The game will be streamed on Dodge City's YouTube channel can be heard on 107.5 KSCB as Brock Kappelmann (pxp) is on the call.
