Lady Saints on the Move

LIBERAL, Kan. - Since their departure from Seward County Community College last spring we look into the Lady Saints basketball program from 2021-22 and see where they are off to now. 

Sierra Lynch the starting point guard last season signed to LeMoyne-Owen College an NCAA D2 in Memphis Tennesee. Last season she earned first-team all-conference and was selected to the defensive team of the year. Lynch played for two seasons, started in 52 games with the Lady Saints, and averaged 11 points per game in her career wearing green. 

Sanaa Smith will also attend LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis to continue her basketball and academic careers as a Magician. Smith spent two years with Seward County with a career average of 4.5 points per game and shot 44% from the field. 

Hulda Joaquim has signed with the University of New Mexico an NCAA D1 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joaquim compete for two years with the Lady Saints last season and had her best season with 6.0 ppg, and 6.9 rebounds per game. 

Zhane Thompson will continue her academic and basketball career at the University of Texas El Paso an NCAA D1 in Texas. This past season she earned second-team all-conference honors with 2.7 three made per game ranked second in the KJCCC. Thompson spent two seasons with Seward County with an average of 11.7 ppg, and 2.7 rebounds per game. 

Miyah Dubose has chosen Catawba College an NCAA D2 in Salisbury, North Carolina to continue her academic and basketball careers. Dubose was named freshman of the year, defensive player of the year, and all-conference honorable mention in her freshman campaign. In her two years at Seward County, she averaged 5.8 ppg, 2.7 steals per game, and 3.9 rebounds per game. 

Sydney Wetlaufer will continue her academic and basketball careers at the University of Missouri St. Louis an NCAA D2 in  St. Louis County, Missouri. In the two seasons with the Lady Saints Wetlaufer averaged 9.6 ppg, 2.1 threes made per game, and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Kynnan Shields will attend NAIA Wayland Baptist University to continue her academic and basketball career in Plainview, Texas. Shields spent her freshman year with the Lady Saints with 3 ppg, and 2.9 rebounds per game last season. 

Last season the Lady Saints finished with a 22-10 record and finished third in the KJCCC with a 17-7 conference record. Seward County made it to the Region VI final four in Salina, Kansas last season and finished third in the NJCAA with 34.3 3-point attempts per game.

We look forward to keeping up with them both on the court and in the classroom.
