The Lady Saints defeat Colby 77-52

COLBY, Kan. - Seward County Community College defeats Colby Community College 77-52 on Sunday, January 23rd in the Colby Event Center. The Lady Saints have won their last four games and are now 14-6 on the season, 10-4 in the KJCCC. Seward county jumped up to a ten-point lead at the end of the first quarter and continued to add to their lead to pick up the road victory.

The Lady Saints took the lead in the first quarter 7-4 after a D'Arrah Allen three with six minutes on the clock. With a minute left Zhane Thompson made a transition layup to give Seward County an 18-10 advantage. To close out the first quarter De'Shawnti Thomas connected on a pair of free throws to give the Lady Saints a 20-10.

In the second quarter, the Lady Saints went on a 12-5 run as they led the Trojans 32-15 with 5:11 on the clock. Seward County went on a 10-0 run to take control of the game and had a 42-17 advantage. The Lady Saints went into the break with a 48-23 advantage and looked to continue their pace in the second half.

Seward County took their largest lead of the game after an Allen mid-range jump shot put them up 30, 59-29. The Lady Saints went into the third quarter with a 64-38 lead over the Trojans. 

In the final quarter, the Lady Saints kept the Trojans at bay and continued to trade off baskets. With 2:10 left in the game, Seward County held a 75-49 lead and both teams went cold for the remainder of the game. The Lady Saints dribbled the ball out to win 77-52 over the Trojans.

Seward County was paced by Zhane Thompson with 16 points, three rebounds, and four steals. D'Arrah Allen had 13 points, while Sydney Wetlaufer added 10 points of her own. 

The Lady Saints will host the Conquistadors on Wednesday, January 26th at 6 PM.
