Seward County defeats Pratt 73-49 in the Beaver Dome

LIBERAL, Kan. Seward County Community College picks up a road win over Pratt Community College 73-49 on Monday night. The Lady Saints led 35-20 at halftime and continued to separate themselves for the remainder of the contest. Seward County improves to 12-6 on the season and 8-4 in conference play which places them in third place in the KJCCC. The Lady Saints will host Butler Community College on Wednesday night in the Greenhouse at 6 PM.

To start the game the Lady Saints and Beavers were in a close contest as Seward County led 9-6 after a Sierra Lynch layup. Halima Salat gave the Lady Saints a 16-12 advantage with 1:20 left in the first quarter. Once again the Beavers responded but the Lady Saints ended the quarter with an 18-15 advantage.

Seward County went on a 10-2 run in the second quarter and led 28-19 after a pair of free throws by D'Arrah Allen. Sanaa Smith ended the quarter with a three from the right-wing to give the Lady Saints a 35-20 advantage at halftime.

A three-pointer by Salat gave Seward County a 43-22 advantage with 5:57 left in the third quarter. With 2:20 left in the quarter, Sierra Lynch came away with a steal and went coast-to-coast to give Seward County a 54-26 lead over Pratt. The Lady Saints took their largest lead of the game at the end of the third quarter with a 57-27 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. 

In the final quarter, the Lady Saints kept the lead and after a free throw by Allen, they had a 66-35 lead with 5:18 left in the game. Seward County closed out the game to win 73-49 over Pratt in Pratt, Kansas.

Halima Salat led the Lady Saints with 18 points and shot 6-14 from three-point range. Sierra Lynch added 14 points and Zhane Thompson had 10 points for Seward County.

Seward County will be back in the Greenhouse Wednesday, January 19th to face the Butler Grizzlies at 6 PM.
