The Lady Saints fall 71-68 to the Broncbusters

GARDEN CITY, Kan. - Seward County Community College battles back from down 22 but falls short to Garden City Community College 71-68 on Wednesday night. The Lady Saints fall to 6-4 on the season and 4-3 in conference play. Seward County will be back in the Greenhouse on Saturday night to take on Cowley College at 6 PM.   

To start the game the Lady Saints trailed 7-5 with 4:35 left in the quarter. Seward County ended the quarter down 16-13 to the Broncbusters.

The Lady Saints struggled to get their offense established in the 2nd quarter. Garden City went on an 18-0 run to lead 34-13 with 3:33 left in the quarter. Seward County was held to just one point in the 2nd quarter and trailed Garden City 38-14 at halftime.

Seward County's offensive struggles continued in the 3rd quarter. The Lady Saints trailed 40-20 halfway into the 3rd quarter. The Lady Saints we to the 4th quarter down 47-25 to the Broncbusters.

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Saints got their offense on track. Seward County trailed 51-31 and the Lady Saints went on a 15-4 run to cut the lead down to single digits 55-46 with 4:22 left in the contest.

After a three by Hulda Joaquin cut the Broncbusters lead down to just three points 59-56 with 1:52 remaining. Seward County could not break the Garden City as the Lady Saints cut the lead down to as little as 2 points. Seward County had an opportunity to tie the game with three seconds left but fell short in Garden 71-68.

Zhane Thompson and Hulda Joaquin led the Lady Saints with 18 points apiece.

Seward County will be back in the Greenhouse on Saturday to take on Cowley at 6 PM.
