Lady Saints roll past the Mavericks 92-40

Liberal, KS. - Seward County Community College women's basketball team cruises to a 92-40 victory over Northwest Kansas Technical College to improve to 8-3 overall and in conference play. The Lady Saints jumped out to a 37-12 lead at halftime and outscored the Mavericks 22-1 in the third quarter to take control of the game. Sophomore Sierra Morrow led the team with 14 points and eight rebounds in her starting role.

To start the game the Lady Saints found themselves down 3-0 after a Maverick three-pointer. Seward was slow to get their offense established with their first field goal made was at the 7:30 mark with Madina Camara able to get a lay-up to fall. After a pair of free throws from Zhane Thompson, the Lady Saints led 13-3 after a 13-0 run to start the game. Northwest Kansas went on a 9-0 run to get within two points with less than 30 seconds in the quarter and the Lady Saints took a 15-11 lead into the second quarter.

The Lady Saints come out in the second half with strong defense and were able to turn it into baskets. Seward went on their 22-1 run in the quarter to take the commanding 37-12 lead at halftime. 

Seward County continued to extend their lead in the third quarter with a 50-20 advantage at the 5:47 mark in the third quarter after a made field goal by Sanaa Smith. Lady Saints closed out the quarter with a 70-29 lead and continued to control the game. 

In the final quarter, the Lady Saints took an 84-32 lead on a three-pointer by Sierra Lynch with 2:54 left in the game. 

Seward County's other top scorers were Zhane Thompson with 11 points, Miyah Dubose and Madina Camara both added 10 points of their own. 

Lady Saints are back in action Thursday, March 11th in Chanute, Kansas to take on Neosho County at 5:30 pm.
