Three Seward Teams Earn Top KJCCC GPA

The academic recognition continues for Seward County athletic teams, as the 2016-17 KJCCC academic report was released Monday (Aug. 7) with three SCCC teams earning the top cumulative GPA in their respective sports. Men and women’s tennis, along with women’s basketball, all earned the highest GPA in their sports.
Mounsey Selected to Play in NJCAA All-Star Weekend

Seward County standout Mollie Mounsey has been selected to participate in the 9th Annual NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Weekend to be held July 21-24 in Niceville, Florida. Following a breakout season, which helped lead the Lady Saints to a 32-3 overall record and a 5th place finish at the national tournament, Mounsey is one of 40 NJCAA student-athletes to be selected for these games.
28 Saints Receive NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards

LIBERAL, Kan. (June 12, 2017) – Seward County student-athletes continue to excel both on the field and in the classroom, as 28 Saints qualified for national academic honors for the 2016-17 school year. This was the fifth straight year that Seward saw an increase in NJCAA All-Academic winners.

Four Lady Saints Sign With Four Year Programs

It was a busy day in the Seward County Women’s Basketball Program on Tuesday as four Lady Saint sophomores signed their National Letter of Intents with Neidy Ocuane signing with UTEP, Erin Richardson signing at Delta State, Manuela Fungate signing at Belmont Abbey, and Alex Tyson signing at Bethany to continue their playing careers.
Roy Allen Appointed Seward Interim Director of Athletics

Seward County Athletics will move ahead under the leadership of a new Interim Director of Athletics — one with a familiar face. Trustees appointed Roy Allen to the position, after discussion in executive session, at the regular May meeting Monday night.
Auger & Colvin's Enshrined in Saints Hall of Fame

Three familiar and deserving faces were inducted into the Saints Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet in the Greenhouse as Softball great Courtney Auger as well as longtime supporters Bill & Virginia Colvin took their place as the class of 2017 in front of a crowd of 300.

The Seward County Saints and Lady Saints Tennis teams remained in the #4 and #6 spots respectively in the new ITA National poll released on Monday while six different Saints and four Lady Saints shuffled around in the individual rankings.
Mounsey & Grymek Named NJCAA All-Americans

With the traditions of Jayhawk Conference Championships and top five finishes at the NJCAA National Tournament continuing for the Seward County Lady Saints this season, another tradition continued its path as well as Friday, Lady Saints Mollie Mounsey and Joanna Grymek were named All-Americans, Mounsey a First Team selection and Grymek a Third Team selection by the NJCAA.

Seward County Lady Saint Assistant Coach DeAudra Brown received a huge honor Thursday morning as she was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s 30 Under 30 award list, honoring 30 coaches nationwide under the age of 30.

Valiant Effort Comes Up Just Short For Seward in National Quarters

The 4th ranked Seward County Lady Saints put together arguably their best effort of the season Thursday afternoon at the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock, Texas, but it wasn’t enough as they ran into the red hot, and defending National Champion Gulf Coast Lady Commodores, eventually falling 83-72 to end their season 32-3 and in 5th place in the country.
Seward Steamrolls Texans to Advance to Elite Eight

The marquee matchup of the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament Tuesday in Lubbock, Texas came between #4 Seward County and #6 South Plains. The Lady Saints got off to a slow start, but quickly rebounded, taking a four point lead into the locker room at half before blowing things open in the second half for an 87-69 win to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinal round.

Seward Draws 8 Seed For National Tournament

Despite sitting #4 most of the season in the NJCAA Top 25 Poll and losing just two games all season, both to #2 Hutchinson, the Seward County Lady Saints will have to settle for the #8 seed at the NJCAA National Tournament next week in Lubbock, Texas, opening play against the winner of the South Plains/Monroe game on Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the Rip Griffin Center.

The #4 Seward County Lady Saints will be on their way to Lubbock this time next week after receiving one of eight at-large bids to the NJCAA National Tournament as announced Sunday by the NJCAA.
