Seward County upsets No. 6 Dodge City

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College defeats No. 6 Dodge City 68-61 in the Greenhouse on Wednesday night. The Saints claim their second win over a ranked opponent this season and it all occurs within a week span. Seward County improves to 9-12 on the season and 6-9 in conference play. The Saints will travel to Cloud County Community College on Saturday to take on the Thunderbirds at 8 PM.

Seward County came out and executed to perfection as they jumped up to an 11-6 advantage over Dodge City with 13:50 left in the first half. The Saints took a 25-11 lead after a pair of free throws by Branton "Bee" McCrary with 7:35 left in the half. Seward County went on to lead 37-22 at halftime over Dodge City.

To start the second quarter the Conquistadors cut the Saints lead down to seven, 43-36. Seward County took their largest lead of the second half 57-49 with 4:08 left on the clock. Seward County led 63-57 over Dodge City with 1:37 left in the game. The Conquistadors caught back to get within one possession but after a couple of free throws and technical free throws the Saints held on to win 68-61.

The Saints were led by McCrary and Wilson Dubinsky with 15 points each. Taye Donald added 13 points for the Saints.

Seward County will travel to Cloud County to face off against the Thunderbirds at 4 PM on Saturday, January 29th.
