Tough battles awaited the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team Tuesday evening as they faced opponents from Iowa Central Community College, SUNY Sullivan, and Northwest Arkansas Community College amidst some technical troubles that caused significant lag. Michael Medina faced ICCC in quick matches to take the win with no sweat. He blanked his opponent and got the "W" with a score of 3 – 0. Medina's record on the season is 2 - 2. Marcos Montoya had a hard set in his match up against SUNY Sullivan. Marcos went down in the first two rounds but fought his way back and tied the set at 2 wins a piece. Between his opponent and the lag, Montoya couldn't rise up for the last went and fell on the night 2 – 3. Montoya's current record on the season is 2 – 3. Luis Ortiz found himself in a similar situation against his foe from NWACC. Ortiz traded wins, taking the game to the final set. In the end, Ortiz's Donkey Kong play couldn't stop Street Fighter's Ken. He lost the match 2 – 3. Ortiz record on the season stands at 1 – 1.

The Call of Duty 4v4 team showed massive improvement late Tuesday night. The Saints hosted the match against Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. The Saints team consisting of Aidan Rice, John Epp, Blake Johnson, Landon Davis, and Dwayne Moran, got up early in the Hardpoint round and lead the match for the first several minutes. A few late mistakes cost them the lead and SWWTC won the round. The crew from Wisconsin got up quick during the Search and Destroy portion, taking that round quickly. The Saints fought back during the Control section and managed to secure the point with relative ease, pushing the match to a 4th round. The last Hardpoint section was back and forth down to the buzzer. Unfortunately, SWWTC managed to squeak by and hand the Saints another loss. Their record stands at 0 – 5.

The Saints own Akele Powdrill rose to #6 in the nation with his win over Lakeland Community College on Wednesday night. Powdrill hit them hard and hit them often, leaving the LCC player fighting from behind all night long. In the end, Powdrill kept him under thumb and won his sets 2 – 0. Dwayen Moran, the second Madden team member had a little tougher time against his opponent from Hinds Community College. The two players battled it out, splitting the match at 1 – 1. In the end, Moran picked the Baltimore Ravens and took the last win of the set, putting down the HCC player with a score of 2 – 1. Moran jumps up the leaderboard this week to land at #11 in the NJCAAE.

The Saints Overwatch team was in for a long night on Wednesday night as they battled it out with the team from Northeastern Junior College. Julienne Salazar, Eileen Romo, Blake Johnson, Caden McCain, and Vanessa Ramirez-Molina went back and forth against NJC all night. The Saints got a late win to send the match into overtime sets. Despite winning several rounds in between, they just couldn't cap it off against their foes. The green team lost on the night with a score of 1 – 3.

Call of Duty Gunfight had their second week of competition early Thursday evening. The Saints Green team, consisting of Dwayne Moran and Jesus Muniz, were in a shootout against Florida Gateway College. The Green team went down in the first set but fought back in the second. Unfortunately, they couldn't stop the shots from FGC and lost on the night with a score of 1 – 3. The Saints Silver team, made up of Blake Johnson and Landon Davis, were up against the four-year university Arkansas State Three Rivers.

The Silver team won their first round in dominating fashion. The group from ASUTR fought back for the next 3 sets in a row to steal the victory from the Saints. The Silver team lost 1 – 3.

The Rocket League team was back in the lab last Friday against their opponent Northeast Iowa Community College. Akele Powdrill, Eileen Romo, Fabian Tarango, and Jesus Muniz had a difficult time dealing with the high-flying antics of NICC. The Cougars handed the Saints a stead loss. The green team ended at 0 – 3 on the night

 

The Saints Rainbow 6 squad went down to the wire against Marshalltown Community College on Friday night. The Saints exchanged sets with the Tigers, evening up the games at 1 and 1. The group from MCC came out strong in the third and final set, taking it with a score of 7 – 1. The Saints couldn't come back and took the "L," ending the set late Friday night with a score of 1 – 2.
