Three Seward Teams Earn Top KJCCC GPA

The academic recognition continues for Seward County athletic teams, as the 2016-17 KJCCC academic report was released Monday (Aug. 7) with three SCCC teams earning the top cumulative GPA in their respective sports. Men and women’s tennis, along with women’s basketball, all earned the highest GPA in their sports.
Seward County Volleyball Honored with AVCA Team Academic Award

LIBERAL, Kan. (June 24, 2017) - For the 10th time in the past 11 seasons, the Seward County Lady Saints volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Lady Saints were one of only 21 two-year colleges to earn this award.
28 Saints Receive NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards

LIBERAL, Kan. (June 12, 2017) – Seward County student-athletes continue to excel both on the field and in the classroom, as 28 Saints qualified for national academic honors for the 2016-17 school year. This was the fifth straight year that Seward saw an increase in NJCAA All-Academic winners.
Allen Wins AVCA's Grant Burger Media Award

Three familiar and deserving faces were inducted into the Saints Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet in the Greenhouse as Softball great Courtney Auger as well as longtime supporters Bill & Virginia Colvin took their place as the class of 2017 in front of a crowd of 300.

Teammates for two years at Seward County, the Lady Saints Maritza Mesa and Belissa Guidotti will be teammates for two more years at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock as the pair signed their National Letter of Intents on Tuesday to join legendary coach Van Compton and the Trojans next season.
Thais Baziquetto-Allen Named to AVCA's 30 Under 30 Award List

The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its Thirty Under 30 Awards on Thursday, naming Seward County Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen as one of the top 30 coaches in the country under the age of 30, across all levels of volleyball this season.

Three more Saints will be inducted into the Saints Athletics Hall of Fame in April as at Seward County’s home basketball games against Colby on Saturday, contributors Bill and Virginia Colvin as well as softball player Courtney Auger were announced as the Saints Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
Maritza Mesa Named NJCAA All-American

Seward County’s Maritza Mesa put an exclamation mark on her outstanding Lady Saints career on Wednesday as she was announced as an Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American. A teary eyed Mesa’s reaction when Lady Saints Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen broke the news to her, “don’t play with me like that coach” the sophomore said before breaking down with cries of happiness. She becomes the first Seward player to receive All-American honors since 2008.
Lady Saints Lose Heartbreaker, Finish 11th at National Tournament

The Seward County Lady Saints saw their 2016 season come to an end Friday night in Casper, Wyoming as they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to #20 Tyler in the consolation bracket semifinal to finish the season 11th in their first NJCAA National Tournament appearance in 13 years.

The Seward County Lady Saints remained alive Friday morning at the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming, knocking off #18 Monroe 3-1 to advance to the consolation bracket semifinals Friday afternoon at 4:30 local time.
