Women's Tennis National Tournament Information
TUCSON, Ari. - Seward County Community College's Women's Tennis program travels to Tucson, Arizona for the NJCAA National Tournament. The Saints will start their quest for a national title on Saturday, May 7th, and enters the tournament ranked No. 4 in the ITA Coaches poll. The official draws and tournament brackets will be set after the coaches meeting in the morning of in Tucson but the link below will have the updated draws after the meeting.
The Saints enter the tournament with an 11-4 overall record, a sweep in conference play to win the KJCCC title and the Region VI title. Justine Lespes will enter the tournament ranked third in the latest singles rankings behind two Tyler Junior College student-athletes, and will compete in the first singles draw. Carol Mora will compete in second singles ranked 13th in singles, Camille Belberka will compete in the third singles draw is ranked 18th, and Lucia Pophularova is ranked 43rd and will compete in the fourth singles draw. Alejandra Sandoval will be in the fifth singles draw, and Jimena Llorens rounds out the top six singles as she will compete in the No. 6 singles draw.
In doubles, Lespes and Belberka will be in the first singles draw and are currently ranked fourth in the nation. Pophularova and Mora will be in the second doubles draw and are ranked 13th in the nation, and Sandoval and Llorens will compete in the third doubles draw for the Saints.
Seward County finished a program-best fifth at Nationals last spring in Mesa, Arizona. The Saints will wait until tonight to see their official draw matchups and placements in the National Tournament brackets. We will release more information as we receive them as well.
