No. 5 Lady Saints fall to No.6 Eastern Florida State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The fifth-ranked Seward County Community College women's tennis team played short-handed and competed valiantly, but came up on the losing end against No. 6 Eastern Florida State, 5-4, on Saturday in the first day of the Pensacola Invitational. The Lady Saints dropped to 3-2.

Seward played without Alisa Handrugan and had to default a singles and doubles match which ultimately cost it the team victory.

In singles, No. 1 Patricia Panta beat Vasavi Ganesan, 6-2, 6-1, No. 2 Maria Aveiga lost to Tsveti Trifonova, 1-6, 3-6, and No. 3 Alena Macharova beat Chengeto Moyana, 6-2, 6-1.  No. 4 Sofia Belluco lost Valeria Arevalo, 0-6, 5-7, and No. 5 Eva Liu fell to Emma Othmer, 0-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Panta and Aveiga beat Ganesan and Trifonova, 8-6, and Macharova and Belluco beat Othmer and Arevalo, 9-8.
