White's 24 Paces Seward Over North Central Missouri

After a close call in their season opener on Friday against Tabor JV, the 8th ranked Seward County Lady Saints left no time for drama on Saturday as they took on North Central Missouri in Hutchinson, hammering the Pirates 91-56 to improve to 2-0 on the year.

On Friday, the Lady Saints struggled mightily in the first quarter of their game with the Blue Jays, managing just two points in the first 10 minutes, but Saturday they would not repeat that performance.  Seward bolted out to a 23-13 first quarter lead against North Central before putting up another 21 in the second quarter to open up a 44-26 lead at the halftime break.

The Lady Saints defense was outstanding in the first 20 minutes, holding the Pirates to just 30% shooting overall and an 0-9 mark from the three point line.  Seward shot 45% from the field and hit on 4 of 14 from downtown to get out to the 18 point advantage.

Seward put the game away in the third with another 20 plus point quarter.  Extending their cushion to 67-40 before running away to a 91-56 win to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Lady Saints pressure continued to give North Central fits in the second half as Seward held the Pirates to just seven field goals and 29% shooting to hold North Central to under 30% shooting for the game.  The Lady Saints shot 47% overall and were 8 of 24 from deep, but did struggle at the free throw line where they shot just 59%.  In just her second collegiate game, Tiani White put Seward on her back, scoring 24 points on 10 of 21 shooting while also playing 28 minutes without a single turnover at the point guard spot.  Axelle Bernard posted her second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Clitan de Sousa added 11 and seven for the gals in green.

Seward improves to 2-0 in the early going while North Central Missouri drops to 0-2 after a defeat to Hutchinson Friday.

Lady Saints fans will get their first look at the 2015-2016 version of Seward County on Friday when the Lady Saints return home to take part in the Pizza Hut Classic in the Greenhouse.  Seward will take on Gillette on Friday at 6:00 and University of the Southwest JV Saturday at the same time.
