    For the eighth straight year, the Seward County Lady Saints will be represented at NJCAA All-Star Weekend in Florida as soon to be sophomore forward Clitan de Sousa has accepted the invitation to participate in one of the nation’s top showcase events for junior college women’s basketball.

    Academic awards from the 2015-2016 school year continued to pour in for Seward County student-athletes on Thursday as 16 Saints and Lady Saints were honored with NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards as announced by the governing body.
  • Lady Saints Basketball Named NJCAA Academic Team of the Year

    The Seward County Lady Saints Basketball team received the top academic honor that the NJCAA hands out on Wednesday as it was announced by the governing body that the Lady Saints have been named the 2015-2016 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in Women’s Basketball. It marks the second time in Head Coach Toby Wynn’s career that the Lady Saints have been bestowed the honor and the sixth time overall.

  • Toby Wynn Announces 2016 Summer Camp Schedule

    Lady Saints Basketball Coach Toby Wynn would has announced his summer basketball camps for the 2016 summer. For the 12th consecutive summer there will be the opportunity for area High School and Junior High teams to come to the Greenhouse to compete in Seward team camps. Teams are guaranteed to play nine games over three days against competition from all across the region.

    Following a 25 win season and runner-up finishes in the Jayhawk Conference and the Region VI Tournament, three Seward County Lady Saints have been named All-Conference as announced by the league Monday. Sophomore Axelle Bernard was the Lady Saints top vote getter, garnering 1st Team All-Conference accolades, while freshman Joanna Grymek also earned a 1st Team All-Conference nod and sophomore Daniela Galindo picks up 2nd Team All-Conference honors.
  • Seward Goes Cold at Inopportune Time, Falls in Region VI Title Game

    The Seward County Lady Saints went into the Region VI Championship game on Thursday night in Hartman Arena as hot as they could possibly be. Seward was winners of nine straight including solid victories over rivals Butler and #12 Hutchinson the two days prior. All of that momentum came to a screeching halt early on Thursday on the biggest stage of all as one win from the NJCAA National Tournament, the Lady Saints shot just 20% in the first quarter to fall behind the Cowley Tigers early and led the game for just 43 seconds as Cowley held them in check all night in a 67-57 final to send the Tigers to the Big Dance while likely ending the Lady Saints season.
  • Seward Slays the Dragons, Will Play For Region VI Championship

    For the third time this season the Seward County Lady Saints and Hutchinson Lady Blue Dragons hooked up on the hardwood Wednesday in the Region VI Semifinals at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas. Also for the third time, it was a battle until the end and for the second time this season, the Seward County Lady Saints came out victorious, slaying the Dragons 72-65 to advance to the Region VI Championship game Thursday at 5:00 against the Cowley Tigers.

    The #24 Seward County Lady Saints remained red hot Tuesday afternoon in Park City’s Hartman Arena, using a shutdown defense over the final three quarters to knock off the Butler Lady Grizzlies 77-61 to advance to the Region VI Tournament round of four on Wednesday.

    It’s the opening round of the 2016 Region VI Tournament tonight in the Greenhouse as the #13 seed Pratt Lady Beavers come to town to take on the #4 seed Seward County Lady Saints. The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the quarterfinal round on Tuesday in Park City where they will take on the winner of the Butler/Allen game at 7:00 at Hartman Arena while the loser will call it a year.

    The Seward County Lady Saints got off to a hot start and never looked back Thursday night as they took on the Pratt Lady Beavers in the 1st round of the 2016 NJCAA Region VI Tournament. Seward jumped out to an 8-2 lead and used a 16-0 run in the first half to put the Beavers away early, winning 86-56 to capture their 50th straight win in their rivalry with Pratt. Seward advances to take on the Butler Grizzlies Tuesday in the Region VI Quarterfinals in Park City.

    It certainly wasn’t a work of art for the Seward County Lady Saints on the road at Dodge City on Saturday afternoon, but they escaped with a win, holding Dodge City to just 24% shooting in the game to come away with a 59-52 victory to secure their 13th Jayhawk Conference win of the 2016 season. Seward was led by Joanna Grymek and Axelle Bernard who both posted double-doubles and combined for 10 blocked shots in the win.
  • Seward Upends First Place Busters on the Road For Fourth Straight

    While it was an ugly game throughout for both sides, there were plenty of things for the Seward County Lady Saints to cheer about Wednesday night in Garden City as not only did Seward knock off the conference leading Busters, but they also moved up a spot in the conference standings to 4th place and secured their 24th 20 win season in a row with their 54-47 victory over the brown and gold.

    With a busy three game schedule this week, Seward County Head Coach Toby Wynn was hoping to be able to rest his starters some Monday night as his Lady Saints took on the 4-22 Colby Lady Trojans. However, even he didn’t couldn’t have known just how much he was going to be able to rest his starting five as no Lady Saint starter played more than 17:06 and all five rested for on the bench for the final 18:21 of the contest as Seward rolled the Trojans 81-39.

    You can call is rust, you can call it bus legs, or anything else that you want, but the #22 Seward County Lady Saints couldn’t find the basket Saturday night on the road at Cloud County as they were limited to just 22% shooting on the night and 38 points, their least amount of points in over nine seasons as they fell to the homestanding Lady T-Birds 53-38 in a disappointing night in Bryant Gymnasium in Concordia.

  • Seward Shut Down by Busters

    Going into their Wednesday night showdown with the Garden City Broncbusters, the #21 Seward County Lady Saints were supposed to be the team with the lock down defense and the strong inside game. However, the Busters decided that they would fill that role on this night, holding Seward to a dismal 33% shooting on the night while outrebounding the Lady Saints by seven to come away with a stunning 77-66 win over Seward in the Greenhouse to move into a tie atop the Jayhawk Conference standings at 10-1.
