Lady Saints Breeze to Win Over Trinidad

The #20 Seward County Lady Saints breezed to their eighth win in eight chances Friday afternoon in Garden City, blowing away Trinidad State 95-53 in a game that wasn't close from the opening minutes.

Joined by a handful of faithful fans in the Perryman Center in Garden City, the Lady Saints showed no sign of a post-Thanksgiving hangover early in their game Friday afternoon against Trinidad State. Seward raced out to a 16-6 lead on the Trojans six minutes into things and scored the next nine points and 18 of the next 20 to blow the game open, taking a 34-8 lead with 5:50 remaining in the first.  Trinidad showed some signs of life before the break, but the scoreboard was still all Seward after 20 minutes of play as the Lady Saints led the Lady Trojans by a score of 44-18.

Even while rotating through all 11 players on the roster in the second half, the Lady Saints still managed to keep upping their lead on the Trojans.  Seward took a 57-28 lead four minutes into the second and stretched that lead to 33 points three minutes later.  With 8:02 remaining in the game, the Lady Saints opened things all the way up to 75-38 and eventually went on to bring home the 95-53 victory over Trinidad.

Seward shot a seasons best 62% from the field in the game, also hitting on 47% of their shots from long range.  The Lady Saints were led by Daniela Galindo who scored a career high 20 in the victory as well as Leslie Speer who came off the Seward bench to go 5 for 5 from the field for a career best 12 points.

The Lady Saints remain unbeaten on the 2014-2015 campaign, improving to 8-0 on the year while Trinidad State falls to 3-9.  Something will have to give on Saturday afternoon in Garden however as the Lady Saints take on 12-0 and 22nd ranked New Mexico Junior College in a 1:30 matinee affair.
