#7 Seward Cruises to 11-0

#7 Seward Cruises to 11-0

After a hard fought 87-86 win a night ago, the #7 Seward County Lady Saints were able to relax a little bit more on Saturday night as they wrapped up their action in the Pizza Hut Classic.  Taking on Labette, the Lady Saints started quick and didn't slow down in a 96-55 beating of the Cardinals to stay unbeaten at 11-0 on the 2013-2014 season.

Seward was on fire early on, scoring 30 points in the first 10 minutes of the game against the Lady Cards to jump out to a 30-10 advantage midway through the first half.  The Lady Saints continued to score in bunches and Labette had no answer as Seward extended their lead to 48-23 before the halftime break.  Seward pushed their lead to 30 before the second half media timeout and went on to win 96-44 in blowout fashion.

Seward was nearly unstoppable on the offensive end of the floor on the night, shooting 55% as a team compared to just 34% for Labette.  The Lady Saints were led by Alana Simon who scored a season high 25 points and also had 4 steals for Seward helping create a number of late run outs for herself.  Brianna Scott had 17 points and 7 assists for the Lady Saints and Fabiana Monte had another 15 point performance for the gals in green.  Janel Tammen had her best game of her Seward County career, scoring a career high 12 points, all in the second half, while also lassoing in 7 rebounds in the victory.

The Lady Saints remain one of just eight unbeatens in the NJCAA with the victory, moving to 11-0 on the season.  Labette will make the long trip back to Parsons after back to back blowout losses at 6-6.  Seward will get a much needed rest now, with 20 days until their next scheduled game on December 27th in San Diego against Mira Costa.
