The Saints finish the season with losses at Colby

COLBY, Kan. - Seward County Community College finishes its regular season with a loss of 10-3 in game one and game two loss of 7-4 in game two at Colby Community College. The Saints finish the regular season with a 23-25 season record and a 14-16 conference record. Seward County led 4-3 in the fifth inning of game two but the Trojans scored four runs in the sixth to secure the victory. 

GAME 1 

Seward County had a tough time generating runs on Saturday, dropping game one 10-3 to Colby.

Ireland Caro led things off in the pitcher's circle for the Saints. The righty surrendered eight runs on nine hits over three innings, striking out one and walking zero. Elle Weber threw three innings in relief.

The Saints had one home run on the day. Tatum Winters had one home run in the third inning. Molly Adams picked up an RBI as she hit into a fielder's choice that scored Shyanna Stop from third base in the fourth inning. Winters was able to score in the fifth inning after a ground ball back to the pitcher she was able to take home from third. 

Winters led Seward County from the plate with three hits in three at-bats.

GAME 2

Seward County stayed in it until the end, but Colby pulled away late in a 7-4 victory on Saturday. The Saints led 4-3 after the fifth but in the bottom of the sixth, the Trojans scored four runs to lead 7-4.

The Saints scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. The offensive onslaught by Seward County was led by Beth Denney and Ashley Low, all driving in runs in the frame.

Molly Adams started the game for the Saints and surrendered seven runs on 11 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Ireland Caro threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Low provided the only home run of the game for Seward County in the fifth inning. She also led Seward County with two hits in four at-bats.

The Saints will enter the Region VI Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Colby on Friday, May 6th at 5 PM in Dodge City.
