ITA Cup Preview
Liberal Kan- The Seward County Community College Men's Tennis Team will have three student athletes competing in Rome Georgia at the ITA Cup this week. Starting tomorrow, October 17th, will be round one of the Doubles and Singles draw for the NJCAA ITA Cup. All of the matches will be played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.
This year the Saints that will be competing in the Doubles draw will be Karl Wurth and Sander Jans as they received the number one seed in the draw. They will be taking on Andrew Branicki Jr. and Joseph Tanjuatco from Marion Military Institute in the first round at 2:30pm CT. Sander Jans is the reighning ITA Cup champion in this draw from a year ago and looks to reclaim his National Title.
In the Singles Draw will also start on October 17th with all of the first-round matches starting at 11:00am CT. The Saints will have Gabe Ortiz and Sander Jans competing in this draw but on opposite sides of the bracket. Jans beat Ortiz at the ITA Central Regional to get an automatic bid but Ortiz was able to receive an at large bid into the draw. Jans comes into the draw as the number four seed and will face off against Franco Roldan from Itawamba Community College. Ortiz will face off against the number three seed Tao Castillo from ASA Miami.
