Seward falls at No. 19 Hutchinson 71-59

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Seward County Community College falls at No. 19 Hutchinson Community College 71-59 on Wednesday, February 16th. The Saints are now 11-18 on the season and 8-15 in conference play with one final regular-season game on Saturday as they face Coffeyvilley at 8 PM in the Greenhouse. Seward County led Hutchinson 51-49 but fell short in the final eight minutes. 

To start the contest the Saints trailed the Blue Dragons 11-7 with 14:25 left in the first half. Hutchinson extended their lead to a 10 point advantage 20-10 after a pair of free throws. A mid-range jump shot by Branton Bee McCrary cut Hutchinson's lead down to 22-20 as the Saints went on a 10-2 run to get within two points. Hutchinson responded with a 7-0 run to take a 29-20 lead. Jaylin Henderson connected on a three as the halftime buzzer sounded to cut the Blue Dragons lead down to a single possession 32-29. 

In the second half, the Saints tied the game at 39-39 with 15:40 left in the contest after a Harvin Ibarguin layup. In the next possession, Wilson Dubinsky connected on a three to give the Saints their first lead of the game 42-41. Both teams traded off baskets for the next couple of minutes. The Saints Ibarguin connected on an And-1 with  8:46 left in the contest to give Seward County a 51-49 advantage over Hutchinson. The Blue Dragons responded with a 15-3 run to take a 64-54 advantage over the Saints with five minutes on the clock. The Saints fell short in the final minutes as the Blue Dragons claimed the victory 73-59. 

Seward County was led by Harvin Ibarguen's double-double 26 points and 12 rebounds. Jaylin Henderson added eight points, and McCrary had seven points in the contest.

Seward County will host Coffeyville in the Greenhouse on Saturday night for Sophomore night at 8 PM.
