The Saints fell to Vernon College 13-2

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College fell to Vernon College 13-2 on Tuesday, March 1st. The Saints fell behind 2-0 after the third inning but could not overcome a late offensive surge by the Chaparrals. Seward County is now 3-11 on the season and will compete at Redlands College on Friday, March 4th. 

GAME 1

Seward County and Vernon went scoreless for the first two innings of the nine-inning game. The Chaparrals broke the tie with two runs in the top of the third inning to lead the Saints 2-0. Cameron "Chance" Helton gave the Saints their first run of the game with a solo home run as Seward county into the Vernon lead 2-1. 

The Chaps responded with two runs in the fifth and four runs in the top of the sixth to lead 8-1. The Chaparrals batted around their lineup and scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to lead 13-1. The Saints responded in the bottom of the seventh as Javier Gomez hit an RBI single that scored Williams from third base to trail 13-2. The game was called after 

Tristan Curless received the loss as the starter for Seward County as he went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out one.
