Galveston Finishes Off Series Sweep of Saints

Galveston Finishes Off Series Sweep of Saints

The Galveston Whitecaps finished off a four game sweep of the Seward County Saints Sunday afternoon in Dallas, Texas, defeating Seward 13-2 in the series finale to drop the Saints to 2-4 on the early season.

Seward went down in order in the top half of the 1st and Galveston got on the board with a pair of runs in their first at bats to take a 2-0 lead.

The Saints cracked the scoreboard for the first time on an RBI single from Jared Biddy in the 3rd to make it a 2-1 game, but a two out, two run single for Galveston in the bottom of the frame quickly pushed the Whitecaps out in front 4-1.

Galveston added to their lead in the 4th with a three run inning, stretching their advantage to 7-1 midway through.

It remained a 7-1 game to the 6th when the Whitecaps blew things wide open with back to back two out doubles to make it 10-1.

Seward got a run back on an RBI single from Edwards in the 7th, but Galveston scored three more times and the Saints wouldn't score again as the Whitecaps went on to take the game 13-2 to sweep the series 4-0.

Galveston outhit Seward 14-6 in the contest and took advantage of six Seward County errors.  Ethan Earhart took the loss in his Saints debut, allowing seven hits and seven runs in four innings of work to fall to 0-1 on the year.  Seward failed to register an extra base hit in the game, finishing the four game series with just one against the Whitecaps staff.

The Saints drop their fourth straight to fall to 2-4 on the year while Galveston continues a nice start at 7-1.

Seward returns home next weekend where they will host former Saint Bryan Shepherd and the Northeastern Plainsmen in a four game set Saturday and Sunday at Brent Gould Field.
