Three Seward Teams Earn Top KJCCC GPA

The academic recognition continues for Seward County athletic teams, as the 2016-17 KJCCC academic report was released Monday (Aug. 7) with three SCCC teams earning the top cumulative GPA in their respective sports. Men and women’s tennis, along with women’s basketball, all earned the highest GPA in their sports.

The Seward County Saints will sneak into the Region VI Tournament as the #16 seed in the 16 team tournament next weekend despite suffering their third sweep of the 2017 season on Friday at Williams Stadium in Garden City, falling 2-0 and 10-7 to the rival Garden City Broncbusters to finish the regular season 17-36 overall and 10-22 in Jayhawk West Conference play.

A continuing wet April has forced more schedule changes for Seward’s Spring sports this weekend. Saints Baseball has pushed their start time back to 3:30 on Saturday against Dodge City with the school’s annual Helicopter Ball Drop still planned for a 3:00 drop. Lady Saints Softball will resume their unfinished game with Barton at 4:00 at Lady Saints Field in Liberal while their postponed doubleheader Friday against Butler has been moved for the fourth time to Monday at 2:00.
