GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The third-ranked Seward County Community College volleyball team took to the road on Monday and continued its winning ways with a 25-8, 25-13, 25-13 sweep of Garden City Community College.

The Lady Saints, who jumped up one spot in the NJCAA poll to number three, remained perfect at 10-0 atop of the Jayhawk Conference and 16-2 overall. Seward extended its conference winning streak to 49 games, last losing on September 28, 2016 at Colby. The Lady Saints have not lost a set in conference play all season.

While Seward breezed in the opener, Garden City showed some tenacity in the second set. The Lady Saints found themselves in a dogfight early, trailing 5-3 and 7-6. After a timeout, SCCC regained its composure, went on a 16-5 run to open a 22-12 margin and finish it off for the victory. Feliz led the way with six kills and Djuly Schmorantz and Arciniega each contributed four kills.

The Lady Saints regained their form and took the finale with ease with leads of 4-1, 10-4 and 21-10. Feliz and Arciniega each had four kills.

Seward returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Hutchinson Community College at 6:30 p.m. at the Greenhouse. The Lady Saints knocked off the Blue Dragons, 25-18, 25-15, 25-10, on September 7 at Hutchinson.
