Lady Saints Overcome Cowley in Close Match

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Lady Saints come back from playing Cowley County Community College with a 5-4 win. The Lady Saints are now 11-4 overall.

The No.1 doubles match finished first with  Seward's Patricia Panta and Steffany Bermundez defeating Cowleys Kristela Viouere and Maria Kolvaska 8-2.  Cowleys Mariona Rodriguez and Aletta Macheli were defeated in No.2 doubles spot by Alena Macharova and Martina Borges 8-3 to give the Lady Saints a 2-0 match lead. Margot Fontaine and Coraline Lamar gave Cowley their first points of the match winning 8-5 over Lady Saints Yursa Hegy and Megan Petr at No.3 doubles.

In the singles spot, Macharova defeated Kolvanska in the No.2 spot to start singles, 6-0, 6-1. Bermundez won against Laura Rincon 6-3, 6-2 in No.3 spot before Macheli defeated Hegy in the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-4.

Panta took down Viouere 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in an intense match in the No.1 spot clenching the win for Seward. Borges was defeated by Rodriguez in the No.5 spot 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 in a match that could've gone any way.  FInally Petr lost to Margot Fontaine 6-3, 6-2.
