Saints/Lady Saints Picked 2nd in Jayhawk West Coaches Poll

Saints/Lady Saints Picked 2nd in Jayhawk West Coaches Poll

The coaches in the Jayhawk West Conference have spoken and they expect both Seward County basketball teams to finish in 2nd place in the conference race this season.

The Lady Saints were picked second behind four time defending conference champions Hutchinson who is coming off of yet another 2nd place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.  Following the Lady Saints in the poll was another NJCAA National Tournament participant from a season ago in Butler with Garden City and Cloud County following behind them.  Barton was picked 6th by the coaches and Pratt, Dodge City, and Colby round out the reformed nine team Jayhawk West Conference.

Despite winning an unprecedented four straight Jayhawk West titles, the Saints check in at #2 in the preseason coaches' poll behind the team who has trailed them all of those years, Hutchinson.  The defending Region VI Champs Pratt come in at #3 while Dodge City and Butler are #4 and #5 respectively.  Garden City is expected to finish 6th with Barton, Cloud County, and Colby taking the final three spots.

The Saints and Lady Saints will both be in action this weekend in the Pepsi Classic in the Greenhouse with the Lady Saints tipping off at 6:00 each night and the Saints getting underway at 8:00 both Friday and Saturday.  Free tickets are available courtesy of our buyout sponsor Pepsi at their Liberal office location as well as at First National Bank, Pizza Hut, and Hutch's.
