High Flying Lady Saints Run Past Lamar

High Flying Lady Saints Run Past Lamar

For the third time in three games, the Seward County Lady Saints topped the century mark on Friday in Garden City, defeating Lamar 116-69 to improve to 8-0 on the season.
Seward got off to another quick start, this one thanks in large part to Alana Simon who had 12 points in the first seven minutes of the game to give the Lady Saints a 20-13 lead early on.  By the midway point of the first half, Seward had really gotten things rolling, leading the Lopes 33-19 before taking a 61-39 lead at the break.
In the second half Seward continued to pour it on Lamar, stretching their lead to 30 just six minutes into the half and opening the score up to 88-53 with under nine minutes remaining in the contest.  The Lady Saints reached the century mark with 4:30 left in the game and ended up putting up another eye popping number on the offensive end, winning 116-69.
With the 116 points and just an eight man Lady Saint roster, it was another good afternoon for the gals in green in the stats compartment at the end of the afternoon. Six players reached double figures and three posted double-doubles including Shanise Brooks who led the way with a game high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds.  Brianna Scott just missed her first double-double with 24 points and 9 assists.  Kyndal Davis had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Payton Fleming had 12 points and a career high 13 rebounds and Fabiana Monte finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Seward.
As a team, the Lady Saints did not attempt a three point shot in the game and finished the contest shooting 66% from the field, their highest shooting percentage in Head Coach Toby Wynn's nine years of directing the Lady Saints.
The 19th ranked Lady Saints improve to 8-0 on the year and will hit the court again tomorrow at 1:30 when they take on New Mexico in the Perryman Center to wrap up their play in Garden City.
