Lady Saints Start Arizona Trip with a Sweep

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Seward County softball team (15-11) swept the Dawson Buccaneers.  The Lady Saints won game one 9-0 before taking game two 8-3.

GAME ONE RECAP

Monique Ashley did not allow a single run as Seward Saints defeated Dawson Community College 9-0 on Monday. Ashley allowed just seven hits. Ashley picked up with the victory for the Lady Saints. She went six innings, allowing zero runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking zero.

Seward tallied four runs in the sixth inning. Seward offense in the inning came from singles by Sydney Epp and Corrina Porras and a double by Leena Mortensen. After already being up by five, the four runs were enough to end the game from the mercy rule.

Hailee Gregerson took the loss for Dawson. She lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and nine runs while striking out three.

Seward Saints saw the ball well, racking up 11 hits in the game. Porras, Epp, and Sage Harrison each collected multiple hits for the Lady Saints. Harrison, Epp, and Porras each managed two hits to lead Seward.

GAME TWO RECAP

Jordan Cordrey earned the win for Seward. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out three and walking one.

The Lady Saints got on the board in the second inning when Sydney Epp homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Seward Saints tallied five runs in the third inning. Seward batters contributing to the big inning included Miranda Nester, Jullian Atteberry, and Kaitlin Ammermann, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

McKenna Sorenson took the loss for Dawson Community College. She lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out one.

Seward Saints tallied ten hits on the day. Atteberry, Ammermann, and Epp each racked up multiple hits for the Lady Saints. Ammermann and Atteberry each collected three hits to lead Seward.
